Starting January 1st 2023, the classification UN1169 EXTRACTS AROMATIC LIQUIDS will no longer be acceptable for air transport. This classification will be replaced by UN1197 EXTRACTS, LIQUID FOR FLAVOURS OR AROMA
The UN1169 shipping description will still be acceptable for the other transport modes. In order to simplify your operations, we suggest that you switch to the new classification for all modes of transport. However, since this classification is not yet recognized by the IMDG Code and the TDGR, it would be prudent to add a note to your shipper’s declaration that you are using the new international classification.
For example, following the complete shipping description UN1197 EXTRACTS, LIQUID FOR FLAVOURS OR AROMA, class 3 PG ______, we suggest you add the following warning: Classification in accordance with ICAO/IATA and UN recommendations, to avoid any confusion on the part of the carrier.
